What do tree’s usually symbolize in poetry?

The poem is by Emily Dickinson, We Grow Accustomed to the Dark ( that is the first line, she of course didn’t title her poetry).
4th stanza is
The Bravest–grope a little–
And sometimes hit a Tree–
Directly in the Forehead–
But as they learn to see
