Do People understand the significance and relation of form and Content Mean for Poetry? What the Cliche’s are?
Saturday, April 12th, 2008Form: the way the poem is structured.
Content: what the poem is about.
How are these two things supposed to work to strengthen a poem? What forms and words are considered archiac and should rarely be used?
These are some things I’ve noticed being neglected by most poems posted on here.
For those people who believe that ‘end rhyme’ and ‘meter’ are necessary for quality poetry, you are stuck in the past. There are new forms that need to be considered. Poetry is now a greater puzzle. Take something old, make it new.
Oh, I see. You’re mad because I probably say the same thing as other critics of your poetry. So, you naturally assume I’m a neophyte. That’s rich.
Always Penumbra…I understand what you’re saying, though, notice I didn’t completely dismiss meter and end rhyme. My problem is, most poems posted on this site use the end rhyme and sometimes meter. I would say I’m rather pluralistic; I believe the content should follow the form. For example, Dondi, though he has it out for me, wrote a poem with end rhyme about his father-his father who loved poems that rhymed. Here, I would agree that this poem would not work without end rhyme. However, if his father like Ginsberg, end rhyme would be terrible…it would completely destroy what that poem was about. So, as I pluralist, I don’t **** end rhyme; I simple don’t believe it should be constantly used. At this point, I am making your answer the unofficial best answer.
Is there anywhere i can read my poetry and get feed back?
