Need help withing reading in a poetry slam?

I am going to audition on the 22nd this month to join my school’s poetry slam team
I am a big fan of poetry and have had my poems submitted to things like teen arts for top 10 in the county
So it is not how good I am at poetry that I am worried about
Just the reading
It’s just so theatrical and emotional
But for some reason I can’t get the same feel for it as I have seen others do.
Does anybody have so tips or suggestions?
Any help would be great

How to read and write poetry well?

IHF asked:

I’m going over poetry in English class, and its like the only thing I **** at in English. How do I get better at this?

Could you tell me how to write great poems without having to think so hard (even then it sucks)?

And could you tell me how to analyze a poem easily? I can’t do this too well.

I think it has to do with me not being an abstract thinker.
