Has poetry now become outdated by the music of modern bands, artists preferring to write lyrics for albums, rather than for literary collections?

I have asked this question quite a few times, but I never get any good responces. I have never really read that much poetry, though I read a lot of books and I seem to be more fond of ones that are filled with so much romance, it seems almost poetic, so I want to give poetry a try. Im going to the library tomorrow, and I dont know what Im looking for. Help please =)

The Difference Between a Subject and a Theme in Poetry?

Eric asked:

I am doing a poetry project on a famous poet. For part of the project, you have to choose two poems, and discuss the subject, theme, and characters (if any).

However, I am having trouble distinguishing between a subject and a theme? And btw, the subject isn’t the characters.

Please, don’t say “Do your own homework”
I need help as soon as possible telling me what the difference is b/t a subject and a theme.

Amber asked:

Well Im 16 yers old. I’ve been writing poetry for about 7 years now. I don’t write just for the sake of writing either.
I write with passion.

I really would like to get my poetry out there and in the faces of people to read.

I have entered various poetry contest and had my poem published in their books, yet there are about 700 poems in those books.

Is there a way I can get just a book of my poetry out for people to read?

And if so, how would I go about making sure my poems are my copyright?

If you can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am currently studying Emily Dickinson and i have been asked to write an essay about the way she uses time as a main theme in her poetry. The main poem i am focusing on is “I dreaded that first robin so,” I would be grateful of any suggestions or guidelines you may have please! I am also willing to help anyone else who is having problems with Emily Dickinson’s poems. Thanks Lyndsey.

I’ve often heard about publishing scams where a so called publisher will ask you 2 send $ along w/ what ever it is you’re wanting 2 have published so please don’t refer me 2 one that will cost me any $ 2 get started!
