I’ve been thinking of submitting some of my poetry to some magazines, and I was wondering if publishers don’t want you to submit the same pieces to different magazines? Even if I submit a piece a long time after its been published elsewhere to a new magazine, would tat be frowned upon? Does anyone know?

I’ve never been interested in poetry, but am well versed in literature. I’m looking to read some contemporary (preferably acclaimed) poetry that speaks about humanity and/or society. I’m not looking for love poems or poems about the beauty of a place or anything of that sort.

Hi. I am writing a college paper for my English class. I need to analyze a few poem’s figurative language (metaphors, similes, personification, etc.). Each poem needs to revolve around the same theme, so I picked identity. Does anyone know of any poems that have mirrors or another reflective surface where the author is in search of his or her identity, or anything along those lines? I already have Sylvia Plath’s “Mirror.” Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
