In about a day I have to give a poetry reading before a moderately large crowd. The problem is that I get really nervous in that sort of setting. For example, I swallow many of my words and even shiver slightly. Is there any way I can give a good performance? Any things I should keep in mind? This is really important to me, because many of my friends will be there as well.

Is it more important that the language is complex and fanciful, or that the story being told is meaningful and worth while?
