What are the main parts included into a poem, what needs to be there? When ever I try to write it just ends up looking like a weird list of notes to myself of things I already know. I want to send in 3 samples of my poetry with my college application. I printed out each poem individually, with my name and date on each one. Is that all I need to include? My mother wants me to include pictures relating to the poems on each page, but is that a bad idea? I think it might look unprofessional. How did you send in your poems?

Those who submit poetry here, do you ever actually study any published poetry or do you just assume that because you think you are “deep” that you can write? Really, most of you here just sound completely foolish and silly. I am not a Poet Laureate by any means, but I do have enough sense and pride to at least READ and REVISE a poem before I expose it to scrutiny. Now all the haters can begin with their bashing!

Does anyone know any decent websites which have information on the poetry for the AQA GCSE English Literature exam? Not Bitesize though, I don’t find it very helpful.

Also, in the poem Anne Hathaway by Carol Ann Duffy, how am I supposed to describe it to the examiner? Should I be very safe with it, or will I be marked down for too much detail?
